A shared collection of ideas
How to Contribute
I'd love for this site to become something more than just my own collection of thoughts and resources. If you have something useful to share—an article, a book recommendation, a practical guide, or perhaps you just disagree with something I've written—you're more than welcome to contribute.
The field notes run on Obsidian, which makes contributing fairly simple.
1. Get Obsidian
First, download Obsidian and install it on your computer. It's free, and you don't need to pay for anything to get started.
If you haven't already, create a free Obsidian account.
2. Get access to the site
Send me the email address you used for your Obsidian account, and I'll add you as a collaborator to the site. Email: anderswinter@outlook.dk.
I'll also help you get access to the site's existing notes. Obsidian calls a collection of notes a vault, and we'll need to make sure you're working with the right files.
You don't need your own Obsidian Publish subscription.
3. Start contributing
Once you're set up, you can start writing directly in Obsidian. Create a new note, or improve something that's already there.
A few things I'd appreciate:
- Write about something you actually know or have experience with.
- Keep things practical and reasonably concise.
- Include links to sources, books, videos, or other useful material.
- Don't worry too much about making things perfect. We can always improve them later.
Obsidian uses Markdown, which is just a simple way of formatting text. If you've ever written anything on Reddit or GitHub, you'll feel right at home.
4. Publish your contribution
When you're happy with your contribution, make sure your notes are synced with the latest version. Obsidian Publish doesn't automatically sync notes between collaborators, so use the shared workflow we agree on before publishing.
Then:
- Enable Publish under Settings → Core plugins.
- Open Publish changes from the left sidebar.
- Select your new or updated notes and click Publish.
That's it. Your contribution is now part of the site.
If you get stuck, just reach out. I'd rather help you get something published than have you spend an afternoon fighting with Obsidian.
